Third party funding – How to design and communicate your project convincingly

Requirements: A more or less detailed idea for a new research project, which you want to further develop during the workshop.
Participants: 12 max  
Your profit: This workshop will get you started in writing your own grant proposal: At the end of this workshop you will have developed your idea for a new research project into a first work program. You will further have a more detailed understanding of the objectives, the actual innovation, budget planning and how to highlight the relevance of your research. Besides you will have background knowledge on funding programs, reviewing processes and internal procedures with respect to grant proposal writing. In terms of special requirements, we will have a detailed look into funding by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and other national funding organizations.
Topics:  
  • How to identify the right funding scheme and how to assess the requirements to a successful proposal.
  • How to develop an idea into a first work program and how to proceed to a detailed time and effort planning.
  • How to design the project to the funding program to achieve a high relevance.
  • How to plan the budget.
  • How to efficiently communicate with the reviewers.
  • How to develop convincing objectives.
  • How to show the innovation in the project and its impact.
  • What you will have to do for a successful submission besides writing the grant proposal.
 
Methods: Trainer input on background knowledge and methods, group work and individual work on your own idea for a grant proposal, feedback and discussions.
